Deborah J. Hughes, Executive Director
Ms. Hughes practiced family and employment law in Iowa for over a decade. Since relocating to Grand Rapids in 2004 she has served as a legal consultant and adjunct faculty member with Grand Valley State University. Her extensive non-profit board leadership includes multi-state Girl Scouts organizations, the Professional Women's Network of Cedar Rapids, and a hospital hospice advisory board. She looks forward to applying her skills in funds development and strategic planning as the LAC begins its 11th year of services .
Christine P. Gilman, Staff Attorney
Chris is a graduate of Tulane University Law School and is a certified Civil and Family Mediator. She is very familiar with the issues addressed by the LAC due to her previous service as a highly respected Legal Aid attorney in western Michigan. In her role she serves patrons and supervises student volunteers from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and Davenport University's paralegal program. She also offers community education regarding family law matters and general legal procedures.
Charles Campbell, Paralegal
A graduate of Grand Valley State University, Charlie first volunteered at the LAC in 2008, when he was studying for his paralegal certification at Davenport University. He quickly learned the practical application of the legal theories and soon was asked to become a part-time staff member. In the past year his value to the team was recognized when he became the sole full-time program services provider. |
