General LAC Volunteer

Mission: To provide assistance to patrons in need of

legal services or information

Activities:

Ø Confidentially interviews and assesses clients on the phone or walk in patrons

Ø Provides legal information, including information on court procedures, types of law, and possible options to resolve the presenting issue and offers direction to patrons with civil pro se forms

Ø Guides walk-in patrons through web-based program

Ø

When necessary, refers patrons to community agencies, screens patrons for Legal Aid

Ø Assists LAC staff with record keeping and patron and attorney communication

Commitment: Minimum commitment of six months, volunteering at least one four-hour pre-approved shift per week. We will, of course, be delighted if you stay longer.
